A red new Honda CR-V alongside a dark silver Honda CR-V from the previous year

The 2021 Honda CR-V will continue to dominate the compact SUV market, as it won't be much different from the previous 2020 Honda CR-V. This carryover model has a lot to offer enthusiasts. Let's look closer at the new Honda CR-V release date, pricing, specs, performance, features, and more.

Price | 2021 vs. 2020 Honda CR-V

We don't know the exact price on the 2021 Honda CR-V yet, but expect the MSRP to be around $26,150. That's only slightly more than the starting price of a 2020 Honda CR-V at $25,050.

MPG| 2021 vs. 2020 Honda CR-V

With the same powertrain options as the 2020 model, the 2021 Honda CR-V fuel economy numbers shouldn't change. We still expect to see 28/34 mpg with the base model and 27/32 mpg with all-wheel-drive.

Perks | 2021 vs. 2020 Honda CR-V

The 2021 Honda CR-V is part of the fifth generation that was released in 2017. There aren't any major changes expected for the new model year. Because of this, you can expect the new Honda CR-V to look similar to the 2020 Honda CR-V SUV.

Safety Rating | 2021 vs. 2020 Honda CR-V

While we don't have safety ratings on the 2021 Honda CR-V yet, we can look at what the previous model earned. The IIHS rated the 2020 Honda CR-V as a Top Safety Pick, while the NHTSA gave this SUV a perfect five-star rating. Because we don't expect any major changes, it's fair to assume that the 2021 Honda CR-V will perform just as well in testing.

Towing Capacity | 2021 vs. 2020 Honda CR-V

When properly equipped, the 2021 Honda CR-V should still be able to tow up to 1,500 pounds, as the previous model does. That's enough to tow a small boat or trailer.

New Honda CR-V Hybrid

The 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid will carry over into the new model year. Because of this, we expect the 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid to include a 2.0-liter engine combined with an electric motor and CVT to produce 212 horsepower. With this hybrid power, the SUV is rated at 40 mpg city.

Interior | 2021 vs. 2020 Honda CR-V

The 2021 Honda CR-V comes with standard cloth upholstery. Still, you can upgrade the cabin to include heated front seats, leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
