The all-new, first-ever 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid was released
in March 2020 and will be produced in the United States. The 2020 Honda CR-V
Hybrid is now on sale in Glenwood Springs, CO, at Phil Long Honda.
Every trim level on the non-hybrid 2020 Honda CR-V gets a hybrid offering. The 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid features a starting price of $27,750
for the LX model. If you prefer the EX trim, expect the Honda CR-V Hybrid 2020
price of $30,260. From there, we see a starting price of the EX-L of $32,750
and a Touring model of $35,590.
The new CR-V Hybrid shares the same powertrain with the
Accord Hybrid. This i-MMD system is known as a two-motor system. It combines
two electric motors with the 2.0-liter inline-four engine to boost thermal
efficiency by 40 percent. This powertrain system creates 212 horsepower and comes with
standard all-wheel-drive.
Honda anticipated around a fifty percent boost in overall
EPA city fuel economy. Those estimates weren't too far off. The 2020 CR-V
Hybrid is set to have an MPG rating of 40 city/35 highway/38 combined across
all configurations. The Driver Information Interface (DII) showcases all the
data you need for driving and maintaining your vehicle.
The 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid comes with a push-button gear selector and three switches for the EV, Sport, and Econ modes. With the Econ mode, you get a softer throttle response, while the Sport intensifies the power and adds Active Sound Control. In EV mode, the vehicle operates only on an electric charge. There is still room for 5 occupants to fit comfortably. The Honda CR-V electric SUV contains nearly 40 cubic feet of cargo room behind the back row, and 75.8 cubic feet of space with the row folded down.
The new Honda CR-V Hybrid exterior body measures in at 182″ L x 73″ W x 67″ H and it is available in eight exterior color options: Sonic Gray Pearl, Aegean Blue Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Obsidian Blue Pearl, Platinum White Pearl, and Radiant Red Metallic. Some of the exterior differences from the standard 2020 CR-V SUV include the Honda hybrid emblem, hybrid badging, a hidden tailpipe, and dark-tinted tail lamps.
The 2020 Honda CR-V plug-in hybrid has a slightly lower price on both the base and top trim levels compared to the Toyota RAV4 hybrid despite having comparable engine options, MPG ratings, and features. Plus, the RAV4 Hybrid doesn't come with as much cargo room, making it less family-friendly.
The 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid comes standard with an array of advanced safety equipment, thanks to the Honda Sensing suite. The Honda Sensing advanced safety suite includes Collision Mitigation Braking, Forward Collision Warning, pedestrian sensing capability, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping Assist.
While the CR-V hybrid model doesn't separate safety ratings yet, the 2020 Honda CR-V received a 5-star ranking from the NHTSA and the IIHS listed it as a Top Safety Pick. Car enthusiasts continue to speak very highly of the first-ever CR-V Hybrid in their reviews. Edmunds praises the fuel-efficient powertrain and standard all-wheel-drive.
